August 2021
Hello Everyone,
Welcome back as we begin the 2021-2022 school year! We are looking forward to an incredible year with all of you, where we can continue to partner together in providing our students with an excellent education.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION, DATES & TIMES TO NOTE AND REMEMBER:
COVID UPDATE
Unless policy changes, students will wear masks while inside classrooms/buildings and will not wear them while outside. At this time, parent volunteers will not be in classrooms, but parents are able to come on campus at drop off/pick up.
CLASS PLACEMENT
A great deal of time and consideration for your child’s success in the coming school year was given to your child’s class placement. Later this week (Aug. 6th) families can go onto the parent portal, reenroll (update emergency information) and view who their child’s teacher is for this year. Parents can visit www.sanjuan.edu/parents to access content previously accessible through the old portal.

We continue to utilize all available resources to ensure your child receives the best learning opportunities.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: ATTENDANCE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
If for some reason your child is unable to attend the first day of school, it is extremely important that you notify us prior to August 12th! We need to have this information as soon as possible for you to make special arrangements with the school and with your child’s teacher. Class seats cannot be held for “no shows” and will be assigned to those on our waiting lists.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS FOR PARENTS
With the exception of the K Orientation, these are parent only evenings and are extremely important! Attendance is a necessary part of the communication process that makes the fundamental program so successful. The teachers spend many hours preparing information and materials that will help you to better understand the school’s program, what to expect for the coming year, and ways we can work together to help your child be successful.

PRINCIPAL’S ANNOUNCEMENTS
Be looking for a weekly Principal’s Announcement on Monday afternoons. This will come in the form of an email. Those parents with a current email in the system will automatically receive the newsletter. Please call the office (916-979-8209) to update/add your email address so you will receive these important messages each week.
DRIVEWAY SAFETY
Please carefully review the driveway procedures in your Parent Handbook which you will receive the first day of school. Be sure and share with anyone who will be picking up or dropping off your child. The three most important issues are:
1.) The yellow curb lane closest to the school is for drop-off/pick-up only! Drivers may not park and leave their cars. Unattended vehicles are regularly ticketed by the Highway Patrol.
2.) The driveway is a 5 MILE PER HOUR speed zone. Driving at a faster rate of speed endangers ALL of our students.
3.) Please remember to not talk on your cell phone while driving through our driveway.
DISCOVERY CLUB
Please be aware that the Discovery Club on campus does all of its own registration. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact them directly at 916-986-2288 or 916-971-5975.
GREEN OAKS PARENT HANDBOOK
Families can find the handbook on our web site at: HYPERLINK "https://www.sanjuan.edu/domain/2435" https://www.sanjuan.edu/domain/2435 .Please review the handbook with your child and sign the pledge that will be coming home on the first day of school.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you and your children on August 12th!
Sincerely,
Robert Reynolds,
Principal
